What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Massively overhaul/alter door breaking mechanics and go over them with each breaching SCP in mind to achieve the following:- Breaching SCPs that start in HCZ are able to break out of HCZ, no matter what doors are closed - With the effort it takes being dependant on what specific SCP it is (For example, SCPs like 096 and 682 should be able to tear right through BDs - However an SCP like 049 has to rely on 049-2s to break a BD; And 049-2's need to take a significant amount of time to break through a BD individually (the rate at which they can get through a BD should increase proportional to the amount of -2s trying to break the BD))
- It may be worth considering a system where certain breaches that can't break blastdoors become able to if they are the only current HCZ breach, such as 049 or 939

- Normal doors have minimal health, smaller blast doors (such as PW or the BDs separating upper and lower HCZ) have a lot more health and big blast doors have a ton of health; And the damage that SCPs do to different door types would be configurable per SCP (For example, 049-2s could break through normal doors easily, but would struggle with other types of door. 096 would tear through all door types without issue)
- With Garage BD being the final, "biggest and strongest" unique type of BD - Which should separated out from other blast doors anyway, because of how difficult it should be for SCPs to break it to get out onto the surface as the de facto final line of defence (096 has to run at it repeatedly to be launched into the air by the little lip on the floor so that it can even get the prompt - There are also other similar doors like CI entrance that are similarly difficult to get the prompt for)

- While there should be the ability to set some doors as unbreakable to all SCPs (008 being one I can think of off the top of my head), there should be overrides for specific SCPs per door - While I agree with the reasons that D-Block watchtower exterior is unbreakable, this causes 096 to get trapped on the catwalk until F can open it (and/or until 096 becomes able to jump). Because of the way 096 works in-game currently, I argue that 096 should be the only SCP that is able to break watchtower exterior. There may be other edge cases I haven't considered or ones that may appear in the future
There is an active suggestion to try and make major gameplay changes require SL approval, in response to a new IC policy on UK (which implements a behaviour that US has had basically forever). I agree in principle with the problem raised, however I believe ruleplay is not the correct solution for this specific issue I raise. As such, I am making a content suggestion to solve the issue that RP leadership are presently cheesing, whether it be intentionally or unintentionally.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- + Restores SCP breach gameplay and helps mitigate potential abuse (whether intentional or unintentional) of door-breaking OOC mechanics to favour Foundation against SCPs
- + More granular tuning of this allows for better balancing of SCP breach gameplay and fixing of extant issues such as the aforementioned Garage door
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- - Significant dev time
- - Technically a breach buff unless balanced correctly (which will not happen initially and also take significant time & testing to get right)
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
The way door breaking is now is fine, however from a breach gameplay perspective, I don't think is sustainable for the progression of the server if the roleplay environment is going to change in the way it has with IC policies being made that result in it being virtually impossible for some SCPs to engage in their gameplay loop, even if as an accidental byproduct. Since both servers have become very close-the-blast-doors-all-the-time heavy, this seems unfair to weaker SCPs that are unable to break them on their own such as 049 or 939 - And may prove problematic for potential future SCP implementations. By increasing the fine-tunability of door breaking, this will become less of an issue.
