What makes you the best candidate for Ethics Committee Assistant?:
During my time at Site 65, I have had many experiences. I have been an ISD agent; I have been a gensec officer; I slowly climbed the ranks in RSD to serve under Director Friedhert; I was an ECA before. I retired due to personal needs, but now, after returning, I see similar issues. I know that it is time for me to return and once more pursue justice, law, and order. I am qualified to be an ECA because I was one before, and I continue to have new experiences that would prove valuable. I possess a unique, wide-ranging view of the foundation and most of its departments.
I don't just believe that I could make positive changes; I know I could because I was once making the changes that made me proud to be an ECA. I worked with ISD and enforced the law. I watched RSD and was proud to see that researchers I spoke to about the COE and our laws took them to heart, began following them, and performed wonderful tests. And I was proud when members of GSD learned when it was permissible to open fire on dclass, instead of blind firing.
I am a good candidate for ECA because I have the willpower and mindset to work closely with the committee and help them build a stronger foundation in which laws are enforced, and people who don't care about the COC or COE are found, arrested, and punished.
What are the responsibilities of Ethics Committee Assistants in RP?:
Ethics Committee Assistants work closely with the Ethics Committee Members and ensure their orders are executed across the site, ensuring that the Code of Conduct and the Code of Ethics are enforced. Watching members of the site ensures no one is breaking the law and, if they are, bringing them to justice through ISD or other channels if it's bad enough. On top of these duties, the assistants can help trusted D-Class with getting work permits. Ethics assistants also have the responsibility and authority to authorize AA during severe SCP breaches.
Assistants assist the ECMs with upholding the rule of law, ensuring that what is done is by the COC and Ethics constitution, assisting the ECMs in anything they require help with, working closely with LE and ECA's work as the bridge between standard site personnel and the ECMs working to bring any information from their assigned oversight area to the committee's attention.
ECAs also work to create RP to enrich the experience of people playing. Through interactions, meetings, documents, and information gathering, another important job of ECAs is signing off on certain testing documents.
Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee Assistant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Leo Macarther was born and raised in LA and earned a degree from UCLA, double majoring in microbiology and epidemiology with a minor in anthropology. After graduating, he joined the CDC, where he traveled the world researching the deadliest viruses and the largest threats known to him at the time. Leo would devour any knowledge, which eventually led him down a path into the world of paranormal/anomalous biohazards, and soon enough, Leo was approached by a strange group of people who invited him to do something for humanity rather than be mocked by the scientific community. He accepted and was brought into the SCP Foundation, where his skills and talents became very useful when it came time to understand the nightmares that the foundation kept safely locked up.
His life in the Foundation was one excitement after another, rapidly rising through the ranks to senior researcher before joining the CRB. Leo was good at his job, running tests on SCPs such as SCP-087, SCP-966, and SCP-999, and trying to find new and interesting ways to test these SCPs. His mind expanded outwards, and now he seeks to understand subjects such as SCP-096 regeneration, potential ways to apply new medical techniques to the Foundation, new armor and weaponry ideas, and research into the origin of human consciousness. But as he conducted his research with his trusted mentor [Redacted], tragedy struck when he, [Redacted], and [Redacted] were kidnapped by the serpent's hand. Unfortunately, he was the sole survivor of the serpent's hand's ruthless attack and kidnapping. However, he still misses his mentor and hopes to continue her research where she left off, on a mission to ensure her death wasn't in vain. And now, with hundreds of ideas sprouting and his promise to finish [Redacted]'s research, he places his hand in the ring of the executive researchers.
Leo spent a long time as an executive researcher, struggling to enforce the research department's code of ethics. After some time, he applied and became an ECA, where he worked hard to ensure everyone adhered to the code of conduct. However, the loss of his mentor left him deeply unhappy. So he requested a demotion and left for field research, where he spent 2 years studying SCPs with MTF-[REDACTED], identifying and assisting in the containment of new anomalies. (I was in college and was too busy to play) After his time ended, he returned to Site-65 ready to continue his research and resume where he left off.
Now surviving as a Doctor in the medical department, Leo once more finds issues with the site; he wishes to fix these problems by working from within the systems leadership structure in ways he can't do as an individual member of RSD/Medical. Leo now looks back at his time as an ECA and knows it is time to return to the path of enforcing justice, law, and ethical constraints to ensure we are cold, but never mindlessly cruel.
