What does this suggestion change/add/remove?
This adds a self-ban command that lets users voluntarily ban themselves from the game, forums, and/or Discord for a set time. It’s not appealable and doesn’t show up in ban records, keeping it separate from punishment-based bans.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
There have been standard ban systems, but none that allow a user-controlled self-ban without admin intervention.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

• Gives users control over their break, letting them step away on their own terms.
• Prevents abuse by limiting ban reasons to a preset list.
• Encourages healthy time management for players who may need a temporary break.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

• Some users may regret the ban and want to return early but will be unable to appeal it.
• Could require some technical setup to ensure bans are properly applied across all platforms
• Possible minor changes made to staff handbook and punishment policies in the event people somehow abuse this system.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This feature supports player well being without adding extra work for staff. It provides a structured way for users to step away without relying on admins or trusting their own intentions and ensures that self-bans remain fair by preventing misuse. The ability to select where the ban applies adds flexibility, making it a useful addition for those who need a temporary or long-term

For a lot of people, just stepping away isn’t that simple. This suggestion is a small quality of life change meant for those who have a hard time fully committing to a LOA or ROA. Taking a break is great when you can, but sometimes responsibilities/thrill of the server pull you back in, and it’s not always easy to ignore. This would help those who need a better way to manage that balance

I feel like this can be accomplished by parental control settings and applications. I'm not sure it's fair to ask that CN add features to manage CN players' own lack of self control.

i dont think scp should be added to the gamstop list unfortunately. On a real, if it's becoming addicting or you're getting burned out you should be able to make the conscious decision on your own to just not play. From a staff pov and knowing how exponentially bigger SCP is compared MRP and the current amount of ban appeals we get, I can imagine the amount of self-exclusion ban appeals that would be received (I know you mentioned it as a problem, I think it's just gonna be a BIG problem).

That is a very valid point, I guess I didn't consider the magnitude of headaches this could cause. However, I feel like with any system of this caliber there will be hiccups and problem solving along the way.

I do not deny it is legit possible for someone to become addicted to GMod, but it is not the staff's responsibility to solve that, more the player taking conscious steps to solve the root of the problem instead of seeking elsewhere to go repeat the cycle.

I can't think of a serious game/server that allows you to ban yourself.

You are responsible for your own health. We will try our best to help you with it, but it is you who is addicted in the end.


Smoking is bad for a person's health, yet the government makes money on it. < if you know you know.

Anyways, this isn't really for content, it is more a NL decision as it massively impacts player count and reputation.
