What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

Senior Technician (CL3) Whitelisted role

With the removal of the Clearance Elevation System CL3 is no longer possible in ET&S

To be Whitelisted, an applicant would need:
  • Must be whitelisted by Senior Staff (ISD, SA or ECM?)
  • A nearly spotless arrest record (2-4 weeks?)
  • Good Support Levels (20+?)
  • Good overall level (50+?)
  • Maybe even a short ET&S proficiency test? (Multiple choice location testing "Keycard breaker locs? Tesla breaker loc?")

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Yes, but no. I know a CL3 ET&S has been suggested, but unknown as to the whitelisting and requirements.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
A trusted ET&S member, that isn't under constant suspicion .
HCZ repairs without holding up an E-11.
An elevated role for ET&S mains.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
As literally any other role, this role may be abused

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
ET&S deserves better and an elevated role would offer ET&S a path to show dedication to the role and the rules. A position to be proud of and a position that will put most minds at ease upon arrival for repairs.
This role would also allow for some leadership over all of ET&S, potentially reigning in some of the mischief that seeming comes along with being ET&S.

Instead of adding job bloat, I'd rather a system where you can give a specific player on a job a keycard for some specified length of time so you can create RP without having to worry about your keycard getting nuked by a breach, but for some reason that gets denied, because apparently having to constantly go to get a new keycard every time you die is RP.

This was the main reason I never have my CL3 printed.

For UK, if you do an incredible job for an extended period of time, SA can decide to upgrade your clearance level and can be printed as per a contract filed with them.
This is not necessary as it can be dealt with via. IC means and not a job specific role.

I was told by multiple people that the CL Elevation form got nuked, leaving no way to properly get a CL3 as a techie.
Was I misinformed?
US Site Director here.

Site Admin agreed to remove the elevation requests as we felt as though all we would do is print keycards for people and then see them 10 minutes later because they died to a breach.

When it was first rolled out under the old Site Admin, it was handled extremely poorly, to the point where it felt too easy to get the elevation and ended with people harassing Site Admin for a keycard while we were mid-roleplay.

The elevations requested are now done on a discretionary basis per Site Admin that are on site at the time.

I'd suggest if you wish to be considered for a card, then try to provide written reports to the Site Admin. I have left some examples in the cabinet in ETS bunks.

We are always looking to grow roleplay for people but want to ensure the roleplay we provide isn't directly harming other people's roleplay.

The keycard printer frankly sucks for anything beyond very temporary uses for the reasons already stated. It requires SA to be on site, which they often aren't, and requires you to get a keycard printed every five minutes because CI/breach/GOC/D-class/etc.

Either we need some way of making the keycards last between lives, or we need to just have higher clearance E&TS jobs. Theres clearly the interest in doing RP, and there's often interest from SA in supporting that, but the systems we have suck for this and we might as well just have the damn jobs.

Thank you for the clarification

Then maybe this suggestion shouldn't be about an ET&S role, but a better Clearance Elevation system.
Like role lock cards for the duration of a play session? crashes would suck, but thats another thing.
Either way, an easily recognizable, respectable role in ET&S would be cool.

Having to get a keycard over and over has to be annoying for everyone involved. I personally don't care how the UK server does it, THEY ARE NOT U.S. The servers operate completely different. More LARP jobs should always be a good idea, instead of constant repeated RP. (Btw I don't even play techie. This is just my opinion)
