What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

This adds an airlock/revolving door system at one of the HCZ checkpoints to allow Combat Medics (CMs), Security Containment Units (SCUs), and others to access HCZ only during certain site codes, if an SCP breach is active, or FSL is active. The airlock would try to solve the problems where CMs, SCUs and others are stranded in LCZ waiting for CL4 or E11 to open the door during raids/breaches. This would be a normal sized door right next to the bulkdoor, I was thinking something like the airlocks they use to grab dclass for testing but only enough room for one person, or a revolving door that only allows access from one direction.

General Functions (of both options):

  • CL4+ always able to use it.

  • CMs and SCUs gain override access only during:
    • Codes 3, 4, 5, and Code Black (possibly Code 1).

    • Active SCP breaches.
    • Full Site Lockdown
  • If no valid code or breach is active, the door is locked for them.

  • Hack difficulty = same as bulkdoor. If hacked, it only cycles the airlock, not give permanent access.

One-Way Option (LCZ → HCZ)

  • Only allows travel into HCZ.

  • One person passes at a time.

  • Overrides: CL4+, CMs, SCUs, E11

Two-Way Option (LCZ ↔ HCZ)

  • HCZ → LCZ Side:
    • Always open to CL4+.

    • Grants override to CMs, SCUs, , and possibly Tech Experts. lets them exit HCZ after breaches are over (avoids being trapped). (this could be all the time and not only during breaches)

    • E-11 Privates/Specialists will gain the override also
  • LCZ → HCZ Side:
    • Same rules as the one-way door.

    • CMs and SCUs gain override only during certain codes/breaches.
    • E-11 Privates/Specialists gains override (allows them to leave HCZ when it is low pop and no higher ups are on, and they don't have to wait for other CL4s)

Why should it be at Secondary HCZ Checkpoint?

  • Primary already has two bulks, adding this to primary would be a lot more work for devs because of the 2 bulks.

  • If at Secondary it would be less work for the dev team, because of 1 bulk. SCPs would likely not go to secondary because of the turret at the door. SCPs can still try to break it, but it should be unbreakable or as strong as the bulkdoor.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?

Yes, there have been suggestions related to SCUs and CMs before about HCZ, such as giving them override to bulkdoors, allowing them to spawn directly in HCZ, or adding an E-11 Medic job (this isn't fully about CMs, but more combat medics in HCZ should fix this). Those were denied mainly due to concerns about abuse, minging, or making other roles redundant.

This suggestion is different because it doesn’t give SCUs/CMs permanent override or HCZ spawns. Instead, it introduces a controlled access point (the airlock) that only becomes usable for them during certain codes or SCP breaches. This ensures they can still provide support when they’re needed, while avoiding the problems that came up with past ideas.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

  • Lets SCUs/CMs do their jobs in HCZ during emergencies
  • Reduces the wait time for CMs and SCUs instead of waiting for CL4s or E11 to open bulk.

  • Allows them in only when needed, doesn't allow them to access for no reason.

  • Could make breaches/raids faster with more medical and more people in general.
  • With more people helping with the breach, it would end faster allow for RP to resume

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

  • Adds another access point that CI/SCPs could exploit.

  • A lot of dev time
  • With an increase of people in HCZ the breach could end faster, bad for SCPs
  • Defeats the purpose of the bulk door

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

This would give SCUs,CMs and other personnel a controlled way to access HCZ during emergencies, while reducing downtime and improving teamwork during breaches and raids. Right now, CMs and SCUs often end up waiting for a CL4 or E-11 to open the bulk, which can take a while and pulls focus away from dealing with the actual breach. Allowing them access would help resolve breaches faster, hopefully leading to more RP opportunities afterward with fewer delays. On the downside, it does add another potential access point that CI or SCPs could exploit, and it would take a lot of dev time to implement.

I do like that more people are independently coming up with this sort-of combat scenario accelerationism theory I've been harping on about for the past year or so, now.

However, I think the the issue here is that this creates more problems than solutions. This is really just an overengineered idea for a very specific problem (Yes, pot, kettle, aware, thank you). I think you've also overlooked the possibility of 035 gaining access to this via a CL4/CM/SCU host, making a very strong SCP even more dangerous. I can also imagine certain RP situations where simply giving all CL4s/CMs/SCUs unfettered and/or easier access to HCZ creates openings for abuse.

I'm not so inclined against it, I think the idea is generally quite interesting. But I don't think it's compelling enough that it warrants the attention of the Level Design team to specifically spend their energy and time making something that is not really all that important or helpful at best, and damaging to server health at worst.

Despite that, I can't bring myself to be as against it as others are, though.
