It is hard to hear, but there is footstep sounds.
The black square under my feet is not a part of the PAC, i changed a setting and i only had to restart my game for it to go away.

Footsteps were removed due to negative feedback

No, definitely not. It was a bug i was having, i had someone look at it and they did not. So no.
