I am applying for a member position, because I feel that my knowledge, skills, experience and relationships with multiple members of the foundation, as well as the time period of which I can play onsite would benefit the site as a whole as it will mean there is a RP lead on most hours of the day, and give people a chance to engage with a member of Foundation Command who normally would not get a chance to. I have always been passionate about the interesting moral duality of the Ethics Committee. I would like a chance to return to the position I have enjoyed most in my time in the community.
What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?:
I am of the personal belief that one can always improve. However, I feel that at this point I am the best candidate for the Ethics Committee for the following reasons:
Maturity: As a older member of the community, I feel I conduct myself in a mature manner and know how to handle hard situations and am not afraid to make the tough or unpopular decisions that need to be made for the good of a department or the site as a whole. I also know when an where to have light hearted fun compared to when a tougher or more stoic approach is necessary.
Experience: Following on from the above point, I bring with me a wealth of lived experiences both within gaming servers, the site as a whole and personal day to day experiences. I have held a range of positions within the site in multiple departments and know how both RP focused and Combat focused regiments and departments should run and what their common leadership pitfalls are.
Knowledge: I have held CL5 roles in the past as well as Jr CL4 roles in multiple departments and know how they work, what is expected of them, and through my time as an assistant I have gotten to know the leadership and general members of the departments so I have a good grasp on what they feel about their departments and what pain points they may have.
Communication: I pride myself on my communication skills both in being articulate and a keen listener, as well as being able to break down communication barriers with people. My strongest skillset is my interpersonal skills and ability to make others feel heard, as I pay attention to not only what others say but what they actually mean and are trying to convey even if it is not initially clear.
Respect: I would like to think I have a solid reputation within the site as a respectful if not a little stern person. I believe in showing all others proper respect regardless of their role or seniority on site, and make a point of daily interactions with people across all roles and departments.
Creativity: I am often providing a unique take on opportunity for roleplay or procedural changes to people I interact with to try give a different point of view on how to vary the otherwise mundane gameplay loops that are very easy to feel trapped by.
Availability: My time zone does make it difficult to be onsite during the more populated times, however I am almost always available via discord and TeamSpeak to answer any questions even when I am at work, and do my best to answer any and all questions that I get from other players quickly even if they fall on the more mundane side. I am also always willing to lend a hand or provide support to others with projects any way I am able.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
- Act as RP Leads: Create and enhance RP scenarios for all departments across the site by issuing orders to departments and creating joint projects.
- Manage ECAs: Use their Assistants as eyes and ears to interact with departments and the site members on their behalf.
- Maintain Relations between departments: Act as mediators within and between site departments, as well as with external GOIs.
- Balance out the O5 Council: Act as the moral and humane checks and balances against the O5 Council's focus on efficiency.
- Act as arbitrators and Judges in tribunal proceedings.
- Assist the leadership of O-1 in the running of the regiment and provide orders and directives for the regiment.
Manage ECA, O1 Commander, and DOISD applications, provide constructive feedback on them, and make final decisions. Ethics upholds departmental standards across all forms of communication, ensuring all applicants hold themselves to a high standard both in and out of RP.
They are also responsible for maintaining the standards of the departments they oversee across the community, including the conduct of ISD, O1, and Ethics assistants in TeamSpeak and Discord.
