Why are you applying for Director of Research?

Leadership

I'm applying for Director of Research because I want to provide research with a strong leadership and I want to help guide research. Research, I feel, sometimes is scattered or inconsistent with what's going on. So I want to establish a clear structure that will help reach the potential of research. I enjoy monitoring others, setting different standards to help out, and making the environment of research and experiments safe and effective. I think that I can create a good environment for researchers to feel motivated to conduct research and push outside of their comfort zone.

Collaboration

I'm also applying for Director of Research because I value the idea that research thrives off collaboration between departments. I believe research is best used for sharing ideas, tests, and creative opportunities, and I believe I can train new researchers and encourage creative activity while still keeping everything organized and documented well, making a lasting impact.

Professionalism

I want to help the department become stronger and more professional. Research is the most important part of the Foundation's mission, and I believe that it should be handled with both creativity but still discipline. With me as director, I believe that research will continue to show great documentation but still show high standards of professionalism.

Passion

Finally, I have great visions for future research and I truly enjoy the challenge of guiding others. I have a clear vision of where research should go, but only if it's given the right leadership. I believe I can help out with more structured researchers, better documentation, and a better culture overall that values both creativity, professionalism, and safety. I believe this role as Director of Research would take my passion for research and help shape the department.

Changes

As the Director of Research, I don't just want to continue what we already do as a department. I want to improve the way that we run. I've noticed that we could become more organized and efficient in some places in the department, and my goal is to change those aspects to help the department in better ways, such as:
    • I believe that the handbook should clarify the maximum number of withdrawal of D-class and a step-by-step procedure for briefing D-class and documenting consent. I also believe that there should be post-test medical reports to show injuries that can be logged.
    • I feel that ethical rules for D-Class should be strengthened by reviewing ethical code and document expectations. Plus, a post-test review of the D-Class.
    [*]

    SCP-Specific Protocol Improvements

    • SCP-914: Include a checklist for “rough” vs. “fine” settings, and document disposal procedures for hazardous outputs.
    • SCP-008: Consider additional safety measures such as decontamination zones, and mandatory bioweapon training.
    • SCP-096: Define clear rules for scenarios when D-Class cannot wear SCRAMBLES (Ethics exceptions) and document approval workflow.
    [*]
What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:

Experience

I believe that I am suitable for the role of Director of Research because I have already gained hands-on experience as a Senior Executive Research running and helping manage situations in the department. I know what it takes to keep experiments fun, documented, and meaningful, and how as a leader of research I'll need to change and adapt quickly, but I'm ready to use my experience to help guide the department with good leadership.

Vision

Another reason why I feel suitable for the Director of Research role is not only because I understand the department, but also have a great vision for where it should go in the future.I want to create higher standards of professionalism, documentation, but still make the researchers feel supported and challenged within the research community. I believe with my leadership skills, I can help motivate people into conducting better research and feeling more at home in this small community that we have.

The reason why I think I'm suitable for the Director of Research is because I've been through everything. Running tests, working on documents, adapting to things that don't go to plan, I've worked my way up so that I can understand everything about research. I've spent late nights and crazy hours and at those times you need to step up and take control, which helped me learn how to manage pressure.

I'm also organized without being too much of a dictator. I like having a schedule, but I also know change is important. And definitely when change is dealing with anomalies, people, and unexpected outcomes. I've learned to make plans to adjust and help me through those hard times without any slip-ups. And that's something you only learn through experience.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:
  • To oversee research projects and ensure foundation protocols are followed at all times
  • To approve, deny, or adjust research experiments based on safety and overall protocol.
  • Mentor junior research personnel, and provide guidance and direction
  • Maintain communication between research and other departments.
  • Enforce the ethical code and legal codex to all personnel and test subjects.
  • Be a representative for the research department in site-wide meetings and discussions.
Directors of research are the change of research. That means reviewing documents, denying tests, and stepping in when researchers push the boundary. This is all controlled by the directors, and they have a large-scale effect on the individual departments.

But finally, they're leaders. Someone that you can look up to for direction and help. Also, that means they're always available, visible, and approachable. Not just being locked away in their office. They're showing up, mentoring, and cooperating, keeping the whole system running.

Over time, as I've been on Site65, it's shaped me into the researcher that is always in pursuit of knowledge and above all else. Over the time that I've been here, I've experienced lots of dangerous SCPs and challenges within the department. You can explore my story through the details of my lore.

-Support barely shows qualities of a exec, i have had 2 issues with kai.
1. taking control of d block then adding on to arguments with other dpts including isd
2. authing a test without even seeing the doc( the doc was 1 page and the researcher refused to stop test resulting in 2 d class dying just by jumping down)
