What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Adds SCP hacking alerts to the following:
  • GSD SGT
  • GST CPT
  • GSD MAJ
  • GSD Chief
  • Site Advisor
  • Site Manager
  • Site Director
  • O5-X
It makes no sense that only GSD SCU specifically would get these alerts, but not their superiors. What if nobody is on SCU? Especially if there's no E-11 on.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not to my knowledge.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
  • During low-medium pop, there are still hacking alerts even if there's no SCUs or E-11 on, which there often aren't below like 60 players
  • It simply makes more sense - why would an SCU get an alert, but not even their Chief?

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • None. Balancing isn't actually a concern here, because either:
    • There are E-11 or SCUs on, and so the hacking alert would be received and spread via comms anyway.
    • There aren't any active E-11 or SCUs, and so the site absolutely needs those hacking alerts or it's completely fucked.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This just makes sense. It's QoL for GSD, not having to have someone on SCU to get the alerts, and it makes downtime not quite as fucked because someone can no longer hack an SCP without anybody even getting an alert.

Neutral

Currently it makes sense that only E-11 and SCU have access to SCP hacking alerts as they are the ones dealing with it. I’d also be fine with CL4 GSD having it.

However, last thing that should be happening is all of GSD bombrushing HCZ when there is a hack going on and not needed a majority of the time, their focus (at this point it being a C1) should be defending D-block from CI and the lack of co-ordination could allow CI a easier time baiting out GSD.

I don’t see any reason why SA/O5/Ethics (left out of this suggestion 😂) needs hacking alerts for SCPs, maybe elaboration needed.

SCU stands for security containment unit
Yeah. And SGT+ are their superiors and so should have the same info they have.

SA+ is for similar reasons. They should have the same info or more that their subordinates do. SA especially should be coordinating emergency response, so they should 100% have hacking alerts so they can direct people appropriately.

That just… isn’t the role of SA? They manage the site not direct the response of C1/C5’s. If it is part of their role they do not do it often enough to be worthwhile giving it them.

Literally 0 downsides here. The only bad thing is CI DCs can’t breach 500 SCPs at 2am and then no rp can happen lowpop. If the downside is “GSD will swarm HCZ when they’re not needed and should be at d-block”, the counter argument is, E-11 can order GSD to leave hcz if not needed. If there’s no e-11, then it’s a good thing GSD are swarming HCZ so the DCs can be killed.

CI here.

I’d be willing personally to have this with a delay. Kind of like 008 quarantine hacking alert where it goes off 30 seconds after. So maybe it could be like a 15-30 second delay and that way if E-11 / SCU is on they can call it out immediately still and if they’re on but afk or not on then foundation still have a chance to see when something is being hacked.

No.... there can already be so many E-11 and 2 SCU's who get these alerts. This would make it way unbalanced for CI. The alerts were balanced on release properly.
... How? As soon as one person receives the alert, they spam comms saying there was an alert and where. Functionally, one person receiving the alert is the same as everyone on Foundation receiving the alert as a result.

Either nobody receives it, or everyone does. Right now, during downtime, nobody receives it. That is terrible at low pop. During high pop, it doesn't matter, because E-11 are on, so even if only one is active, they see it and insta send it on comms and everyone responds anyway.

This cannot ever affect balance in any way other than changing whether Foundation know or not at all.

I agree with SA+ 100%. General Security? Maybe they can make it so if zero E-11 or SCU's are online they can get it. General security's jurisdiction ends in HCZ, So they aren't really supposed to be combatting HCZ's threats.

I realize the sentiment, Get more combatives to heavy so we can stop the hacking quicker, But most of the time letting the gensec horde come down is more of a curse then a blessing.

You clearly have never tried to actually do what you are suggesting. It's like pulling teeth trying to get any Gensec that are captain and below out of HCZ. You ARE a UK player so the culture might be different over there, I'll admit that.

Ha! in UK HCZ BDs are permanently closed so if theres no E11 online, theres no one to open the BDs (unless another CL4 comes by to open it) so there won't be any problem with getting GSD out of HCZ if no one can go to HCZ in the first place

As per the suggestion, hard - Support

You already have E11 and SCU to call the hacking alerts and i really doubt the server goes long times where there isnt any E11 connected (as E11 has a playtime requirement it usually has people playing or afk)

I could also make a suggestion to add a repair tool to armory so we can repair stuff when theres no tech experts online, but thats not the way of dealing with that

sending the cadet horde to HCZ to stop a breach in sub 5 minutes only to spend the next 30 minutes trying to get the cadets back into LCZ

Our keycards say SITE SECURITY for a reason, we defend the entire site. We keep at least one SGT+ in D-Block for the exact reason of ensuring some stay back.
+Jack Seal of Approval
The General Security Department is defined as an overall security force for the entire site, I can see at least CL 4 GSD getting these notifications to help ensure security, especially when E-11 is not around which happens time to time on US

To add to my point (Don't call me a chud istg).
I used to put almost ten hours sessions into this server ranging from playing from 8pm to 4am, to playing 6pm-6am EST. I regularly played both when the server was bustling, To when there were 10 people on the server.

I could see it being a good idea if Gensec leadership could keep a hold on their lower ranks, But that just isn't gonna be the case. Most likely some GSD leadership is going to call out a breach, and most if not all of Gensec will abandon D-Block to combat hackers E-11 will have handled by the time we send someone up to open the bulk.

I think a lot of the -Supports are coming from people who have never played on the server below max pop. A lot of the time, there are no active E-11. At these same times, there are usually no SCUs, either. At these times, there is simultaneously the least amount of potential responders to alerts, and no way to receive the alerts.
Ive played many times on low pop

Low pop starts at <60 (when SCP health nerfs start)

If theres really no E11 and no SCU i bet there are less than 15 players on the server (because at least on UK theres usually at least 1-2 E11 on almost always), at that point don't expect the server to be playable in regards of RP or dealing with stuff regarding hacks, raids, breaches or dclass escaping (low pop is 914 disguised dclass fest a lot of times).

Also CI raids require an amount of MTF online, if they raid, there should be a code 1 already and it should be expected for them to try to breach some SCP.

The other source of hacks for SCPs are dclass, which is rare but can happen on low pop sometimes, but dclass usually prefer disguise themselves using 914 rather than hacking SCPs out since the SCP will kill him too.

Apart from all this, i see no point adding hacking alerts to those jobs you listed, since its very rare seeing someone playing those jobs at low pop in my experience
