I have one RDM warning from when I first started playing the server (Very naughty!)

What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why

I am applying for the role of Ethics Committee Member.

As I hope it is clear by now from the positions that I have held and the actions I've taken in the server, I am someone who wants to cultivate the best environment possible for meaningful and impactful roleplay within the server that will allow for as many people as possible to have the best experience that they can. I can't quite describe the feeling that I get from engaging with people on this level within a roleplay environment, and I feel like that if I was to be successful in becoming an Ethics Committee member that the position would afford me even more ability to be able to continue in this endavour.

Since being in Omega-1, and directly interfacing with the Committee at almost every rank, it's always been a thought within the back of my head to become an Ethics Committee Member as Ethics Committee's, both past and present, have had a serious impact on the way that I approach roleplay by coaching and fostering a supportive and sensical roleplay environment which I wish to emulate to others as a token of my gratitude for the time invested in me.

I am also extremely passionate about developing others, and I always try to approach situations by letting others present their ideas before ultimately making a decision. I believe that a position like ECM is a position that will be able to do that all the time, and it excites me to be able to even have the opportunity to do that.

For a while now, I've wanted to step into a non-combative role and I feel like COM > ECM is the perfect step to be able to do that whilst continuing to acheive all of the things that I've outlined above.

What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?

I believe that I am the best candidate for the Ethics Committe for multiple reasons:

Roleplay
During my time on the server, I have made multiple strides to generate, maintain and support meaningful roleplay to ensure that everyone has a good time and enjoys their experience. I am extremely passionate about the positions that I find myself in, and already having a good understanding of the Ethics Committee due to the position(s) that I've held within Omega-1 / ECA for the last 9 months.

In terms of examples of this type of roleplay that I've generated, I can name a few below:

Omega-1
  1. Operation LLAIC - This is an operation born out of a plot to assasinate one of the O5 Council. This is a current piece of on-going roleplay that is having Omega-1 build their own AIC using resources on-site, those being scrapped electronics, staff who's morality can be brought into question etc. The ultimate goal of this operation is for Omega-1 to have their own AIC (Currently named Themis.AIC) which will allow them to perform actions that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to.
  2. Shifting sands - Since my tenure as Omega-1 LTCOM / COM began, a lot of effort by myself and the Committee has been put into moving Omega-1 to being far more lore accurate. This has seen Omega-1 move into a far more diplomatic regiment, who will always fight with words and procedure before resorting to all out gunfights. I believe, and I hope that others do too, that this has had an extremely positive impact on Omega-1, having given more autonomay to Omega-1 operatives to act within this type of space without fearing reprocussion. This also includes relationship building with departments or regiments that we previously may have not had such good relations with. By no means has this been a solo venture, but I have been spearheading this sort of behaviour from Omega-1 and I think it warrants notation.
  3. Operation Valentine - This was an operation ran in tandem with ISD to improve Omega-1 and ISD relations at the time. This was when we still had prosecutors, so was a two pronged approach. One of these prongs was a general comms line that allowed Omega-1 and ISD to communicate with each other privately, with the expressed goal of setting up joint patrols and enforcing the FLC together. This had two desired outcomes, with one of these being improved relations between the two departments and the second being empowerment of ISD and the FLC by having Omega-1 backing. The second prong of this operation was for our prosecutors to work directly with ISD in trainings to help each other have a deeper understanding of the tribunal process and get some practice cases tabled to improve confidence in the tribunal room. Unfortunately, we only managed to get one of these done but I believe that it was a success as I hope that other parties do as well.
I could go on and list various different orders and behaviours in Omega-1 that I have done, but hopefully those who know what I've done can attest to the level of impact these have had on a large group of players.

Nu-7
  1. ArchAngels - During my time as Nu-7, I was the lead for ArchAngels. Whilst my tenure was short, I did make strides in improving the tryout process for any Nu-7 who were interested in joining, lowering the bar of entry with a trainee program and ultimately allowing for Nu-7 to have more engagement with site staff outside of their primary duties.
  2. Pact A - This was a joint operation between Alpha-1 and Nu-7 that saw each side supporting each other with their primary duties. At the time, myself and Noble came up with this which saw Alpha-1 helping out with old EZ checkpoints in return for Nu-7 sweeping and clearing rooms for Alpha-1 VIPs. This was a further extension of duties for Nu-7 that made sense, as well as a nice way for operatives from both sides to get to know each other better and break down the air of mystery that AO often holds compared to other departments / regiments.
Ethics Committee Assistant
  1. Class-D Housing Regulations - Whilst I never actually managed to get this off the ground, I did plan out a whole RP approach to assessing the Class-D housing on Site-65 against the regulations that Ethics have in place with the plan being to develop these long-term if they need to improve. Who knows, could even be something to explore if I'm successful as ECM though I would note that many have done it previously and I would like to do something unique.
Experience
I've held many a CL4 position by now, and held Omega-1 COM for 3 months as well as being in the regiment for over 9 months now. I am very well versed in the duties of both Omega-1 and what the expectations of the Ethics Committee are through either emulating this behaviour in Omega-1 / Ethics Committee Assistant (For example, acting in the best interest of the Committee when none was situated) or through learning from Ethics Committee Member's past and present. Obviously, there have also been times where I've had to navigate Omega-1 through FCOM conflicts, which I believe I have always handled well and with decorum.

As previously mentioned, I have experience in both the Combative and Non-Combative side of Site roles and believe that now is the right time to use everything that I have learned in both to hone in on Ethics Committee Member to begin improving the experience for myself and others from an FCOM perspective.

Obviously, there will always be more things to learn and I'm sure that if I am successful there will be challenges I will have to overcome, however I am someone who takes criticism well and tries to adapt my approach for the betterment of myself, those around me and for the roleplay!

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?

  • Be an advisory body for Foundation Staff (including the O5 council) and providing a public face to the Ethics Committee banner, entering discussions where required for the betterment of Site-65.
  • Liaising with other FCOM members on any decisions that impact both sides, and making sure that FCOM / Site staff are held accountable for their actions should they deviat from what is best for the foundation.
  • The removal of the current Overseer Council from their positions (Primary action) if all else fails.
  • Maintaining oversight of the Internal Security Department and their actions.
  • Maintenance of the Foundation Legal Codex, making sure that it is being upheld by responsible departments.
  • Judgement of tribunals.
  • Managing the Ethics Committee Assistants, their orders and ultimately holding responsibility for their actions.
  • Liaising with Omega-1 REGCOM & Command to support them and gather oversight on Current Omega-1 operations and functions.
  • Authorisation of various different orders on site such as Code Blacks, Amnestication efforts for the entire site, Mass Termination of D-Class and the detenation of the Alpha Warhead.
  • Adopting the 'Cold, not cruel' approach in respect to upholding the mission statement. Not being afraid to take direct and often messy action to keep the mission statement in tact.

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?)

  • Working with other Committee members to assess applications and review suitability for:
    • Ethics Committee Assistant positions
    • Ethics Committee Member positions
    • Omega-1 Commander
    • Director of Internal Security Department positions
  • Providing feedback to Site Administration and the O5 council on applicants for the positions they are responsible for respectively if asked.
  • Discussion with all departments OOCly, maintaining good relationships and working together to resolve issues and come up with solutions.

Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in

Please find the link to my character's lore by clicking here

In terms of storylines that Elijah Patel would be involved with, for now I have just the one planned where they would work with the Medical Department to look into the death of his mother by gaining autopsy, death and other related records.
