What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

This suggestion aims to change the base default color schemes for the GOC (and I'd add a suggestion for CI too, although I can't speak for CI) keycards to something more faction-specific.

See: The SCP Foundation uses their well known Light Blue CL1, Light Yellow CL2, Light Orange CL3, Orange/Red Cl4 and Black CL5 keycard coloring scheme. GOC and CI currently use the same color scheme.

This suggestions aims to change it to:

GOC Side:

GOC CL3 - From Yellow / Light Orange to Blue. See: #1A5FCC

GOC CL4 - From Red to Light Purple. See: #00129A

GOC CL5 - From Black to Purple. See: #00023D

(The reason I started with CL3 is that the GOC genuinely does not use any CL2 cards or bellow. No job has them even though the cards exist).

CI Side:

CI CL2 - Stays the same color.

CI CL3 - A soft Green instead of yellow/orangeish. See: #74E80C

CI CL4 - A darker shade of green, see #326305

CI CL5 - Dark green - See #1F3D03

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:[/B]

No, to my knowledge.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

-This will serve the purpose of giving the keycards of the other factions (if this change even is possible without affecting other faction's keycards) a bit more nuance and "fitting-in-ness" to the color schemes of their factions.

-Will give the UNGOC & CI more character through this change by adding an additional unique aspect to them, even if it's a simple one.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

-Time to implement.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

I am not informed on how difficult it is or isn't to change the color parameter of a keycard, or if it can be even done on singular keycards without affecting the other ones (e.g if changing the UNGOC CL3 will change the other 2 CL3s or not), but I hope that the implementation of this should be straightforward enough and the change favored enough in terms of aesthetics to be implemented.

I agree they need to be different - As it doesn't really make sense for all three factions to be using the same keycard colour schemes.

I was going to agree with the point of making them not these specific colours as it would make them harder to tell apart, but then I realised... Why not? I think the smaller factions can bear to have the specific advantage of "Needing to look closer at their keycards to figure out the clearance." Maybe they could stand to be slightly more different and also it would probably suck if you're colourblind, too. The idea is otherwise nice.

When I looked at it in paint, the colors looked much more different. I suppose even darker hues have to be chosen to actually be more noticeable in game, but yeah. I suppose in game colors look much lighter than in paint. That being said I'm sure that's an easy fix.

ngl i think if they are gonna change keycard colours they might as well change keycard layouts for each faction rather than just colours
me when CI, and GOC both use the exact same keycard system as the SCP Foundation (this is NOT how it works)
I agree, but unfortunately I think that would be a separate suggestion to be made in the future, as it would require significant changes to VKeycards, compared to just setting different colours for the different faction keycards - Which isn't perfect but is still nice for the time being 🫠

let the CI and GOC choose the colors they want though with this theme as they do feel to samey like CI 1-3 being green and 4-5 being a red and GOC being a 1-3 blue and 4-5 Purple and white or something

it would just be a change in the .vtf textures displayed on the keycard model, no? as far as i know the keycards work with a base texture and then the colour is applied on top of the base - wouldn't it just be a matter of changing the base texture (and maybe the position of the coloured bar things) to get cooler keycards? a model change for the keycards rather than a texture change would make much more sense for what ur saying and i defo agree w you about that tho

The way VKeycards is set up is that each level of each faction has it's own VMT with a $color2 parameter defining the specific RGB, for that faction, for that keycard level. It can be easily achieved and is readily modifiable due to the way keycard level variations were set up.
